Women are severely underrepresented in STEM careers. Many girls perceive STEM careers as too difficult or boring.
Our Conference challenged this misconception, revealing to over 200 girls, parents, teachers and career advisors that STEM jobs foster creativity, critical thinking, problem solving skills and collaboration. Delegates attended this one-day conference free of charge and went home inspired, informed and eager to promote the benefits of STEM. Soroptimist International of Richmond and Dales worked in partnership with RAF Leeming and WISE (Women In Science and Engineering), supported by The Reece Foundation and the Two Ridings Community Foundation.
We now ask others to look at what we were able to do, and to pick up the baton for the future. Can your organisation do something to promote STEM Jobs for Girls? We will continue to display this website to make available details of our event, hoping that this inspires and assists you in developing your own STEM activities. If you need any further information, please contact us for a copy of our post-conference information.
